Disputing about politics, generally people look for data supporting their opinions instead of data that would help them to change their minds. Some politician from the Conservative party interprets information as proves that the money is wasted in welfare benefits while the other from the Progressive Party interprets it as proves of necessity to devote much more attention to this question. Furthermore, not always when people see the reality of the things (authentic reality) their behaviour is ideally rational. As such, for long term political planning it is necessary to take into account that people collect data for satisfying certain ideological necessities adapting these data to some existing mental scheme (their perception) instead of changing this scheme adapting it to the facts even if their political objectives do not change the form of approximating to these facts. The quality of the information is a factor that has got exactly the same importance as particular “filters” in the minds of the information receivers. It is important to avoid information worship in itself: more quantity is not better if for obtaining of exactitude it is necessary to pay a high price. A mass of irrelevant information is a perfect camouflage for bad authority practice.

Nevertheless, the ideology may give in to evidences if they are sufficient, competitive and valid. Let’s see an example from former Soviet Union.


For a long period of time theories of relativity and genetics has been considerate as bourgeois and decadent; but contained in these theories facts and evidences revelled. After 1945 it was clear that if Russia would like to get international presence and a capacity of global dissuasion, it had to have an atomic bomb, and for this it had to accept the theory of restricted and general relativity. During a long time the dictator Stalin had been following a strange form of genetics theory called "lysenkismo". But when the crop started to descend continually he saw the necessity of hybrid grains obtained using the conventional genetics. Thus though people ignore evidences and project on them structured analytical judgements further ideological slant and schemes with particular values, when mentioned evidences manifest with sufficient strength, they may start to penetrate making people to face with authentic reality. May be this is the most important role of the Intelligence discipline within the framework of proactive political activity based on ideological objectives of superior order (As my old teacher says what we need is that people live better, that everybody has opportunities for being right, for being mistaken, and then starting again, that we live in harmony with the nature and our fellow beings conscious of our wealth and finiteness). But it shall be aimed to transformation practice according to the reality showed by the evidences about the environment and projection of the best possible actuations and decisions.
